Job Description

The Rogers Fire Department is seeking individuals interested in a rewarding career serving the community as a Firefighter. Firefighters respond to emergency medical incidents and a wide range of other emergency calls handled by the department.

Rogers firefighters work in both fire and EMS disciplines and are regularly rotated between ambulances and fire companies. The department provides extensive training, professional development, modern equipment, and opportunities for advancement throughout a firefighter's career.

 

Work Hours :

48 hours on-duty followed by 96 hours off-duty, approximately 10 work days per month.

 

 

Job Responsibilities :

  • Respond to emergency medical incidents and the wide range of emergency calls handled by the Rogers Fire Department.
  • Perform duties in both fire and emergency medical services.
  • Rotate between ambulance assignments and fire companies as required by department operations.
  • Obtain and maintain a State of Arkansas EMT Certification.
  • Participate in required department training, continuing education, company standards, and annual evaluations.
  • Successfully complete required firefighter training and certification programs as applicable.
  • Follow department protocols, standard operating procedures, and established safety standards.
  • Maintain the physical and mental readiness required to perform firefighter duties.

Qualifications & Requirements

Job Qualifications :

  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of hiring, as required by civil service state law. Exceptions may apply for candidates with previous career firefighter experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current CPAT Card.
  • Current EMT Certification or proof of enrollment in an EMT program.
  • Current CPR Card.
  • Completion of the National Testing Network exam.
  • Candidates selected for employment must successfully complete a medical examination and drug screening.
  • Rogers firefighters are required to obtain and maintain a State of Arkansas EMT Certification.
  • Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications are not required at the time of application.

  • Strong interest in both fire and EMS disciplines.
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands associated with firefighting and emergency medical response.
  • Ability to successfully complete annual company standards and evaluations.
  • Ability to work effectively in emergency response environments and perform duties as part of both ambulance and fire company operations.
  • Commitment to ongoing Fire and EMS training, continuing education, safety standards, protocols, and professional development.

 

Educational Requirements :

High School Diploma or GED.

 

Experience Level :

Open to candidates with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. Previous career firefighter experience is accepted and may qualify candidates for an accelerated Verification of Skill Sets (VOSS) Orientation.
