Job Description

The Police Officer serves the City of Rogers by enforcing the law, preserving the peace, reducing the fear of crime, and helping provide a safe environment for residents, businesses, and visitors.

This position works cooperatively with the community to enhance quality of life in Rogers through professional law enforcement service, public safety response, crime prevention, and community engagement.

Work Hours :

Police Officers must be able to work assigned shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying days off. Subject to emergency call-in and department scheduling needs.

Job Qualifications :

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be of good character as determined by a thorough background investigation.
  • Must be fingerprinted and have state and national fingerprint files searched to disclose any criminal record.
  • Must be free of a felony record.
  • Must meet all Rogers Police Department hiring standards and applicable law enforcement requirements.

Job Responsibilities :

  1. Enforce local, state, and federal laws in a fair and professional manner.
  2. Preserve the peace and protect the safety of residents, businesses, and visitors.
  3. Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and incidents throughout the City of Rogers.
  4. Patrol assigned areas to deter crime, identify safety concerns, and provide visible public safety presence.
  5. Conduct investigations, gather information, and prepare accurate reports.
  6. Work cooperatively with community members to reduce the fear of crime and support public trust.
  7. Assist with crime prevention, traffic safety, and public safety initiatives.
  8. Communicate clearly and professionally with the public, coworkers, supervisors, and partner agencies.
  9. Participate in required training, certification, and department readiness activities.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills :

  • Prior law enforcement experience.
  • Current CLEST certification.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills, especially skills that support communication with minority communities.
  • College education in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field.
  • Interest in long-term career paths such as Patrol, School Resource Officer, Criminal Investigation, Honor Guard, Detective, Narcotics, SWAT, Bike Patrol, K-9 Unit, or Domestic Violence Coordination

Educational Requirements :

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Additional pay incentives may be available for qualifying education, including an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or Master’s degree.

Experience Level :

Entry Level. Prior law enforcement experience is preferred but not required. Additional pay incentives may be available for qualifying prior law enforcement experience.
